Hypucem
Hypucem is a spin-off company founded by four scientists coming from the University of Naples and from the National Research Council of Italy.
The team has patented a new material, a hybrid polyurethane and cement foam. Being made of a polymeric material, the polyurethane foam, and an inorganic material, the cement, it meets the advantages of the two worlds, the organic and the inorganic, all in one material!

Dott. Marino Lavorgna
CO-Founder and Researcher of CNR
PhD is researcher of Institute of Polymers, Composite and Biomaterials of National Research Council. He got the degree in Industrial Chemistry at Federico II University in Napoli (Italy) and the PhD in Polymer Engineering at the Loughborough University in 2009. His main research interests include: a) the development of multifunctional hybrid and nanocomposite materials by using carbonaceous filler (i.e carbon nanotubes and graphene and derivatives) and inorganic fillers (i.e SBA and halloysite, TiO2 and MMT and organo-modified clay) both in conventional polymers and polymers from renewable sources, b) the development of hybrid materials by sol-gel approach as coatings, c) the development of composites and thermal insulation foams, d) the exploitation of ionic liquids as templates and innovative surfactants to tailor the morphology of filler within polymeric matrix, and e) the morphological characterization of polymer nanocomposites by Small Angle X-ray Scattering analysis.
Dott. Salvatore Iannace
CO-Founder and Director at "Istituto per lo Studio delle Macromolecole"
Salvatore Iannace graduated in Chemical Engineering (1988) and received his PhD (1994) from the University of Naples “Federico II”. He is the Founder and Director of the Thermoplastic Composites Manufacturing Laboratory at the Institute of Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials of the National Research Council of Italy (IPCB-CNR). His principal research interests lie in the fields of biodegradable and sustainable multicomponent and multi-scale foams with designed structural and 2 functional properties. He has published more than 300 papers including around 120 papers in international refereed journals, 18 book chapters, 4 patents and delivered more than 150 conference papers. Member of the editorial Board “Journal of Cellular Plastics”. He chaired the first and third international conferences on Biofoams in Italy (2007 and 2011) and co-chaired the second and fourth editions (2009 and 2013) in Canada. He has been invited as keynote speaker at several major
international conferences for his pioneering works on the gas foaming behavior of biopolymers and their nanocomposites. It has been honoured with several awards including the Nanochallenge and Polymerchallenge Grand Prize in 2007. Co-founder of the spin-off HYPUCEM srl (2009).
Dott. ssa Letizia Verdolotti
CO-Founder and Researcher of CNR
Permanent Research Scientist at the Institute of Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials of National Research Council (IPCB-CNR), Naples-Italy.
She is author and co-author of 70 papers published on international/national journals, conference proceedings and patents, and has been involved in national and international projects on the study and development of new hybrid polymeric materials as well as on their thermo-acoustic insulations properties.
Dott. Ernesto Di Maio
CO-Founder and Associate professor of University of Naples Federico II
Member of the Polymer Processing Society 2001. Founder of a spin-off company (Hypucem S.r.l.) on a patented material for eco-building, 2009. Serves as a referee for more than twenty Scientific Journals, including: Advanced Functional Materials, Polymer, Carbohydrate Polymers, Materials Letters, Journal of the American Ceramic Society, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, Chemical Engineering Science. He chaired the Foaming session of the PPS 2006 (Yamagata, Japan) and 2013 (Nurnberg, Germany) and Biofoams 2011 (Capri, Italy) and 2013 (Toronto).
